Grain Free Brownies

These Paleo-friendly chocolate cherry brownies are so incredibly moist and full of flavor, you won’t even miss the processed flour, sugar, and dairy ingredients found in more traditional recipes. Chocolate Cherry Grain Free Brownie in purple napkin For this version, you can use either fresh or frozen cherries. If using frozen cherries, let them thaw completely at room temperature before chopping and adding to the batter.

You can also collect the juice while thawing and add it to the batter, as well. However, you will need to increase the cooking time by several minutes to account for the extra moisture.

If you want a lower carb brownie you can substitute a sweetener like Sukrin Gold Syrup to lower the blood sugar impact.

Benefits of Cacao/Cocoa

Cacao is one of the richest sources of polyphenols. It’s especially abundant in flavanols, which have potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. They have been linked to numerous health benefits, including reduced inflammation, better blood flow, lower blood pressure and improved cholesterol and blood sugar levels (1).

Flavanol-rich cocoa improves the level of nitric oxide in your blood, which relaxes and dilates your arteries and blood vessels and improves blood flow (2, 3).

Cocoa may exert some positive effects on mood and symptoms of depression by reducing stress levels and improving calmness, contentment and overall psychological well-being.

Benefits of Cherries

Cherries are packed full of antioxidants and rank lower than many other fruits on the glycemic index. This means they don’t create huge spikes in your blood sugar levels.

Cherries are also known to be a source of melatonin, a hormone that helps control your sleep and wake cycles.

The anti-inflammatory qualities of cherries have also been linked with lowering the risk of gout attacks and they can help lower your total cholesterol!

Benefits of Coconut Flour

Coconut flour offers an alternative to wheat or other gluten-containing flours.

It contains no gluten, making it an option for people with certain conditions, such as celiac disease, wheat allergy, or non-celiac gluten sensitivity.

Gluten is a group of proteins found in grains, including wheat, barley, and rye, and is difficult to break down during digestion. In some cases, gluten may trigger an immune response.

The high fiber content of coconut flour may also benefit your digestion.

Most of its fiber is insoluble, which adds bulk to stools and helps move food smoothly through your gut, reducing the likelihood of constipation (1).

Additionally, coconut flour boasts small amounts of soluble and other fermentable fibers, which feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut.
